I have a 03 Mini Cooper S built aroundthe mid-year. There is an OEM CD/MP3 player built on June 04 that I want to buy.

Just want to know if it\'s going to fit and all the connectors on the back have the same spec?

Seller is asking $150 for the unit which I think is quite a good deal considering a new OEM one could cost above $500.

Help please ;)

It should work. At least that\'s what the threads on NAM say. You might, however, want to give Jason (minivaughanwest) a call or pm and he\'ll likely give you a definate answer.

Called Mini Markham, and they said that only CD players built on 06\' can play MP3. I don\'t quite believe it...

But they did say that it should fit without a problem.

Here\'s the picture of the CD player, can anybody tell me if it supports MP3?

Okay, confirmed with Jason (Mini Vaughan West) that it plays MP3 and fits without a problem.

A new unit from dealer is around $1270 with core charge, or $1700 without.

Why not replace it with an aftermarket head unit? I changed mine to a Premier(Pioneer) a year ago and have not looked back. The sound quality is far supperior than the OEM.

Really, I thought that the medicore sound quality was mainly due to the speakers that came stock. OEM head unit provides the same look-and-feel and I don\'t have to worry about it being stolen. :P

But if there is an aftermarket head unit that does GPS navigation, MP3 playback, DVD/TV, performance logging, all for $200, I might buy one. :P
