View Full Version : To rust-proof or not to rust-proof?

Lots of controversies on this old topic already. It could be different cars, people from different climate, and people who want to keep the car for a long time or the ones who don\'t.

My question is underbody rust-proof/coating. I saw a bit rust on the edges of control arms. Does it make sense to do a rust-proof for an 03 car with 83k mileage?

There is a underbody coating, and there is a underbody rust-proof. What about them?

I\'m less concerned about the upperbody paint because I wash and wax it often.

i have a 03 and i did my rust proofing, i also asket around and if u do have some rust bild up on your car dont go with the tar method, reason why is if they close it off with the tar water may get in or not, you are taken a chance, and if water does get under the rust will expand and your not even going to know or see it because its under the tar,,,, soo i just went with the oil base clear rust proof under the car ps u should rust proof once a year too
